Tournament Divisions

Two divisions designed to match elite programs against appropriate competition. Built for exposure, recruiting, and elite competition.

Two Divisions, One Stage

The National Prep Tournament features two competitive divisions designed to match elite programs against appropriate competition while giving every athlete a chance to be evaluated by college coaches. Whether your team is a varsity high school program or a post-graduate roster of reclassifying seniors, there is a division built for you.

Both divisions play under NCAA rules on full-size regulation courts, with professional officials, certified scorekeepers, and live YouTube broadcasts. Every game matters. Every minute is recorded. Every athlete has the opportunity to put real game film in front of recruiters.

Division Breakdown

High School Division

Open to current high school varsity programs and AAU organizations fielding eligible high school athletes. This division puts top-tier programs from across the country on a national stage.

  • Grades 9-12 eligible
  • Varsity and prep school teams
  • NCAA regulation courts
  • 4-6 games guaranteed
  • Game MVPs every game
  • All-Tournament Team honors

Post-Grad Division

Built for post-graduate programs and reclassifying athletes seeking exposure before committing to a college program. This is where late-bloomers and high-academic prospects compete for D1, D2, JUCO, and NAIA opportunities.

  • Post-grad and reclass eligible
  • Academy and prep programs
  • NCAA regulation courts
  • 4-6 games guaranteed
  • College coach attendance
  • Live streamed every game

Eligibility Requirements

To compete in the High School Division, athletes must be enrolled in grades 9-12 at the time of the tournament. Programs must provide a current roster, including jersey numbers, positions, graduation years, and any required age verification. AAU teams entering the high school division must field rosters that meet the same age and grade requirements.

For the Post-Grad Division, athletes must have graduated from high school but not yet enrolled in a four-year college as a full-time student-athlete. Reclassifying players (those completing a fifth-year prep season) are welcome. Programs are responsible for verifying that all players meet NCAA initial-eligibility standards if they intend to compete at the Division I or Division II level.

Roster Submission

All teams must submit their final roster no later than 14 days before the first game. Roster cards include player name, jersey number, height, position, graduation year, hometown, and any committed colleges. These roster cards are distributed to attending college coaches and recruiters at check-in.

Required Documentation

  • Final roster (due 14 days before tournament)
  • Proof of insurance (program or organization-level)
  • Liability waivers signed by athletes (or guardians for minors)
  • Coach contact information for all team staff

Which Division Should Your Team Enter?

If your roster is composed primarily of current 9th-12th grade athletes, the High School Division is the right fit. If your program is a post-graduate academy or you are a fifth-year prep team aiming squarely at college recruiters, the Post-Grad Division is built for you. Mixed-age programs should reach out via our contact page so we can place your team appropriately and ensure you compete against suitable opponents.
