Summary

First held in 1942, the Centralia Holiday Tournament is one of the oldest continuously running high school holiday events in the country. Sixteen teams, three days between Christmas and New Year's, drawing 6,000+ spectators each year to the home of the Centralia Orphans.

What makes this tournament distinct

Eight decades of continuous tradition in a single small-town gym. The Orphans' history (state title in '42, '46, '64, '00) is woven into the event itself.

Who it fits

Best for: Programs from across the Midwest that want a true holiday tournament feel — Christmas-week bracket basketball with state-trophy program history.

Tradeoffs: Centralia is two hours from St. Louis and three hours from Chicago — not a quick visit. Trout Gymnasium is older and seating is tight.
